About the role
Psychiatrists work across a range of publicly funded services, supporting individuals, families, and communities with mental health and addiction needs.
You’ll be part of multidisciplinary teams delivering care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, depending on the role and location.

Salary and benefits
Standard entitlements include:
10 days sick leave
Up to 6 weeks annual leave
Additional benefits may include:
On-call and availability allowances
CME allowance of up to $16,000 per year
Relocation support
These roles are eligible for fast-track residency, allowing you to apply for residency before arriving in New Zealand (subject to having a job offer).

Requirements
To practise as a Psychiatrist in New Zealand, you must:
Be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
Hold or be able to obtain an Annual Practising Certificate
Support is available to guide you through the registration process.
